Tilta is showing the Hydra Electronic Suction Cup (6″) at Cine Gear 2026. The new model steps up from the company’s existing 4.5″ version with a larger pad, significantly higher payload capacity, and a faster motor — targeted at productions that need a reliable powered suction mount for heavier rigs or difficult shooting environments.
What It Is

The Hydra Electronic Suction Cup uses an internal motorized pump to actively maintain suction rather than relying on a manual lever. An air-pressure sensor samples 1,000 times per second and feeds data to the motor, which automatically compensates if pressure drops. That means if the cup begins to lose its seal — from heat, surface imperfections, or vibration — the system pumps additional air out before the mount fails. Real-time pressure status can be read on the optional Wireless Monitoring Module’s LCD screen.
Compared to the 4.5″ version, Tilta claims the 6″ model delivers up to 100% greater suction force. The upgraded motor reaches full suction in approximately 2 seconds — roughly three times faster than the previous generation — while staying under 60dB, which matters on set where ambient noise needs to stay controlled.
Load Capacity and Mounting

The 6″ model supports up to 106 lb (48.1 kg) vertically and 66.1 lb (30 kg) on a side mount. The top plate offers six 1/4″-20 female threads and six 3/8″-16 female threads — both with anti-twist locating pins — along with a cold shoe and a lanyard slot. That thread layout accommodates most mounting configurations without the need for adapters.

Tilta notes that the suction cup is designed for use on flat surfaces with the arm weight balanced over the cup’s center. Side-mounting or extending the arm beyond the cup’s footprint significantly increases failure risk, and they recommend using ratchet straps or safety chains as secondary retention in those configurations.
Environmental Performance
The unit has an IPX5 water-resistance rating, making it usable in light rain without concern. Tilta has also built in a High-Altitude Mode — activated by pressing the pressure release button 6 times — that adjusts the motor’s behavior to compensate for lower atmospheric pressure at higher elevations. They recommend using additional suction cups when working at altitude for maximum security.
Battery and Power
The internal battery runs up to 19 hours under normal conditions, about three hours longer than the 4.5″ model. It charges via USB-C PD (5V/1A) and can also draw continuous power from an external USB-C source for indefinite operation on longer shoots.
Removal is handled by a dedicated physical release button on the unit or optionally by wireless command through the Monitoring Module.
Accessories

Several expansion modules are available to integrate the 6″ cup with Tilta’s existing Hydra ecosystem:
