London-based filmmaking tools company Filmsticks has introduced Action!, a new line of one-piece clapperboards aimed at independent filmmakers, compact crews, and training environments.
The range consists of a medium-format slate measuring 280mm x 220mm (11″ x 8.66″), available in EU, USA, and Spain layout versions. The surface is writable and wipe-clean, compatible with standard slate markers.
Filmsticks described the range as a response to a market gap between low-cost decorative boards and higher-priced professional modular systems. The Action! line is positioned below the company’s existing flagship clapperboards, which feature modular construction, laser-engraved acrylic, and interchangeable components. The one-piece format omits those features in favor of a simpler, ready-to-use design at a lower price point.
Crafted with ABS resin clapper sticks and a printed acrylic slate, the Action! clapperboard provides durability, clarity, and weather resistance for repeated use. Unlike Filmsticks’ flagship engraved slates (which allow wedge fitting and re-use of sticks), the Action! board is permanently glued into the sticks, creating a one-piece build that is simple, secure, and easy to handle.

Company Background
Filmsticks was founded in 2019 and made its public debut at the BSC Show in February 2020. The company traces its origins to the All-Weather Resin Clappersticks, originally designed by London-based 2nd AC Louise Ben Nathan. When the original supply of that product ended, Filmsticks took over its continued development and manufacture, working with camera assistants in the UK.
The company has faced significant disruptions since its launch, including the COVID-19 pandemic and a fire at its headquarters and stockroom in May 2023. It has since rebuilt its operations and continues to supply production tools across independent, television, and studio productions.
