Aputure NOVA 9° 2×1 First Look at NAB 2026

At NAB 2026 in Las Vegas, Aputure was showing its NOVA 9° 2×1. The NOVA 9° 2×1 is a powerful hyper-narrow beam panel ideal for a concentrated light over a long distance.

All NOVA II and NOVA 9° fixtures share the same structural design that allows these panels to achieve three goals normally at odds: low noise, low weight, and IP65 weather protection.

The NOVA 9° 2×1 is a hyper-narrow beam panel and uses the same accessories as the NOVA II 2×1. The Aputure NOVA 9º 2×1 is a high-output, lensed LED panel that uses the same accessories as the NOVA II 2x. It was designed to replicate the power and precision of natural sunlight in a compact, portable form factor. Featuring an ultra-tight 9º native beam angle and a BLAIR chipset, the NOVA 9º 2×1 delivers exceptional long-throw performance, enabling filmmakers to project crisp, directional beams and hard shadows across great distances with remarkable intensity and control.

With a native beam angle of just 9º, the NOVA 9º 2×1 focuses its output into a powerful, concentrated shaft of light that maintains intensity over long distances, ideal for simulating sunlight through windows, using with reflectors. Even when paired with its included flat diffusion panel, it retains a good amount of punch.

Engineered for scalability, the NOVA 9º 2×1 can be stacked in multi-light yoke configurations to form large, directional arrays capable of recreating hard daylight effects at 10 meters or more. Sharing the same dimensions and QuickClip front-mounting ecosystem as the NOVA II 2×1, it offers full accessory compatibility and a removable yoke for flexible rigging in studios, truss grids, or on-location builds.

The NOVA 9º 2×1 features IP65 weather resistance, dual output modes (Max and Constant), four DMX-controllable fan modes, and a smooth 0.1–100% dimming range. Its interface and connectivity options include Sidus Link, Sidus Link Pro, DMX512 16-bit in/out, CRMX, and Art-Net/sACN.

The fixture weighs 19.65 kg / 43.32 lbs (Lamp head weight with yoke).

The 3 NOVA 9° 2×1 panel array enables users to mimic natural sunbeam. As the NOVA 9º 2×1 lamp heads stack closely together, you get smooth output blending past 15 meters (49.2 feet). Each NOVA 9º 2×1 can be daisy-chained for power and control via two included Neutrik PowerCON AC passthrough cables and two included 1-meter 5-Pin DMX male to female jumper cables. Using the two included truss clamps, users can also hang this 3-light array from truss or Speed Rail infrastructure.

It features a shallow footprint and a claimed output that is greater than a 12,000W tungsten lamp at full spot at 10 meters (21,070 lux vs 17,400 lux). The NOVA 9° 2×1 3-Light Kit is designed for use with reflectors, through windows, or wherever beams of sunlight are needed. The NOVA 2×1 3-Light Yoke can also be used with the NOVA II 2×1 lights.

The NOVA 9° 2×1 3-Light Kit weighs 64.95 kg / 143.19 lbs when fully assembled.

NOVA Accessories Ecosystem

The NOVA 9° 2×1 and NOVA II 1×1 launch alongside new additions to the NOVA accessories ecosystem. The 1×1 versions of the NOVA accessories match their 2×1 counterparts, and share features like the front-loading QuickClip system for easy attachment and stacking. The NOVA 9° 2×1 is compatible with all of the accessories already available for the NOVA II 2×1. The Softbox and Fabric Control Grid were designed and manufactured in collaboration with DoPchoice.

  • The NOVA 2×1 3-Light Yoke Kit supplies yoke and cables for mounting three NOVA II 2×1 or NOVA 9° 2×1 panels in an array for use as a single, powerful light source.
  • The NOVA 1×1 Softbox is a QuickClip diffusion modifier designed to set up in seconds.
  • The NOVA 1×1 Dome Diffuser is a QuickClip omnidirectional modifier whose design produces a more diffuse light than the flat diffuser included with the NOVA II 2×1. The Dome Diffuser is available with either heavy or light frost.
  • The NOVA 1×1 Fabric Control Grid is a QuickClip light control modifier that slips onto the front of the NOVA II 1×1 to reduce off-axis spill from the fixture.
  • The NOVA 1×1 Barn Doors is a QuickClip light shaping modifier for the NOVA II 1×1.
  • The NOVA 1×1 Rolling Hard Case is a protective case designed to hold the NOVA II 1×1 along with included accessories.
