MID49 Prototype Powering Solution for Cameras with USB-C first look at NAB 2026

At NAB 2026 in Las Vegas, MID49 was showing a prototype powering solution that can be used with cameras that can receive power via a USB-C input.

The powering solution, which will be available in V-mounty and AB Gold mount versions, communicates with the camera to determine what voltage is required. It will power the Canon EOS C50 at 9V, as well as the Nikon ZR and Sony FX series cameras

According to MID49, an upcoming firmware release from Canon will allow you to send power and trigger start/stop record over a single USB-C cable.

MID49 will have various versions available that will have D-tap, LEMO, and 2 and 3-pin Fisher outputs. These will allow you to power other accessories as well as give you the ability to start/stop recording from select cameras.

There is also an additional cable that can go to the cameras that will provide the ARRI run/stop protocol.

The powering solution can be mounted via a rod to MID49’s cage so it can be swung away for access to a cameras fold out screen, and there are also screw holes on the bottom for a rod-mounted bracket or other mounting solutions.

Pricing & Availability

The new powering solution should be available around June, for around $399 USD.
