Avid has announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Google Cloud to integrate generative and agentic AI into its creative tools.
The agreement aims to transform video editing into an intelligent, AI-assisted experience. According to Avid, the integration will automate time-intensive tasks, helping teams deliver the highest-quality productions faster and enabling editors to focus on storytelling and creative intent.
As global demand for content increases, production teams face growing pressure to manage massive volumes of high-resolution media, while overcoming the limitations of legacy on-premises hardware. To address these challenges, Avid is integrating Google Cloud’s AI and data analytics capabilities into two key areas of its technology stack: Media Composer and Avid Content Core, a new cloud-native SaaS platform that serves as a unified, intelligent data layer for global media assets.

By embedding Google’s Gemini models and Vertex AI directly into Avid Media Composer and Avid Content Core, global teams can manage video files from anywhere while unlocking agentic AI workflows such as digital assistants capable of autonomously managing complex tasks like matching visual styles and identifying emotional cues in raw footage.
The partnership powers a new Gemini integration within Avid Media Composer, enabling editors to streamline post-production, from intelligent metadata enhancement and automated logging to generating B-Roll, to reduce the manual burden on creative teams.
Avid states that searching becomes a lot easier and faster as users can describe what they need based on visual actions, dialogue, or emotional cues.
The new workflows will be demonstrated publicly for the first time at NAB Show (April 18–22).
