SmallRig has announced its new S70 Wireless Microphone. Like other existing 2.4GHz solutions on the market, the S70 was designed to be an affordable, lightweight wireless audio solution for content creators.

The system was designed to be very affordable so you won’t find things like internal TX recording or 32-bit float.
According to SmallRig, the company enlisted the help of Luca Bignardi, a four-time Grammy award-winning sound engineer, in the design of the microphone.

Key features
- Grammy-Winning Tuning: Calibrated by Luca Bignardi, 9 professional EQ presets optimized for vocals, singing, and instrument recording;
- 360° Studio-Grade Audio Capture: 48kHz/24bit sampling, 120dB SPL & 70dB SNR, delivers crystal-clear, highly detailed sound quality;
- Stealth On-Camera Design: Logo-free body with 8.8mm ultra-slim mic head, lightweight and unobtrusive for vlogs and interviews;
- 3-Level Noise Reduction + Anti-Clipping: Built-in auto limiter suppresses audio peaks, performs flawlessly in indoor, outdoor, and airport environments;
- 3 Flexible Channel Modes: Supports Mono/Stereo/Safety Track modes to meet diverse content creation requirements;
- 40-Hour Extended Runtime: Long-lasting battery powers full-day shooting; premium metallic finish balances functionality and sleek aesthetics.

- Environment

SmallRig claims that the operating range of the system is up to 300m (984ft). They go on to say that built-in anti-interference technology ensures reliable audio for outdoor shoots & recording.
In a nice touch and one that bucks the trend with affordable Wi-Fi-based wireless audio systems, SmallRig hasn’t placed any logos on the TX units.

SmallRig has made optional colored covers that go over the TX units so you can help them to blend in with particular clothing.

The RX unit offers 5 levels of gain control for use with cameras. If you are using it with a smartphone, there are 3 levels of gain available.

Users can choose from Mono, Stereo, and Safety Track recording options. If you choose Safety Track, it will record one channel at a lower volume, which can be handy if you are working in environments where the sound level can change quite a lot.

You can also select from 3 different levels of noise reduction.

The TX units can record continuously for up to 8 hours, and the included charging case will provide up to 40 hours of operation.

You can control settings and make adjustments to the SmallRig S70 Wireless Microphone using a free iPhone or Android app called SmallGoGo.
