The Hydra x Dan Ming Speed Pan System was developed in collaboration with Dan Ming, 1st Assistant Camera and camera technician on F1: The Movie, Top Gun: Maverick, and Life of Pi.

This system enables near-instant pans beyond 360 degrees through the precise control of a wireless follow focus motor. Built around a rotatable base with geared teeth, it supports small-form cameras such as action cams and DSLRs via a quick-release plate, with an adjustable tilt axis for flexible framing and unique angles.

The base includes three NATO rails and multiple ¼”-20 threads for versatile rigging with articulating arms, suction cups, and custom support systems.

The Pro Kit adds three heavy-duty articulating arms and three electronic suction cups, allowing secure vehicle mounting at a variety of angles. With a payload capacity of up to 7 lbs and tested speeds of 75 mph (120 km/h), the system is built to handle demanding car-to-car filming while remaining adaptable for other creative shooting scenarios.

Pricing & Availability

The system starts at $199 USD for the head unit, while the Pro Kit is priced at $499 USD. The Hydra x Dan Ming Speed Pan System is now available for preorder.
