At Cine Gear 2025 in Los Angeles, XELMUS was showing its new AURA 2x Anamorphic S35 Series lenses, which were first unveiled at Camerimage.
The first A set to be released contains 4 lenses:
- 30mm T2.2
- 50mm T2.2
- 75mm T2.2
- 135mm T2.5
The lenses utilize the same Astigmatizers focusing system as the APOLLO series, but they have been further upgraded and feature more precise mechanics.
According to XELMUS, the AURA has beautiful waterfall bokeh, low barrel distortion, and low desaturated flare, with a modern contrasty look. The breathing is also claimed to be very well controlled. One of the key features of this series is the beautiful veiling glare that you find on Anamorphic lenses from ’60s and ’70s era.
I had a play with the lenses at the Cine Gear show, and I was very impressed by the AURA series.
Pricing & Availability
The XELMUS AURA 2x Anamorphic Lenses are set to start shipping in the next 6-12 months. The four-lens set will sell for $72,000 USD.
By the end of 2025, XELMUS hopes to start taking pre-orders for the B set:
- 20mm T2.2
- 40mm T2.2
- 60mm MACRO (9.8 inch, 25cm) T2.2
- 100mm T2.2
