LEGO Ideas IMAX Camera

LEGO Ideas is currently featuring an IMAX Camera. It has been designed with meticulous attention to detail, will the aim of bringing the magic of filmmaking to life in LEGO form.

With 2014 parts, this build is a tribute to the iconic IMAX cameras that have captured some of the most breathtaking moments on the big screen.

The project caught the eye of IMAX and they even tweeted about it.

The exterior of the IMAX Camera was designed to faithfully recreates the distinctive design of the real thing. From the iconic IMAX logo to the intricate details of the camera body, every aspect of this model has been crafted with precision and care.

But wait…..there’s more!

When you open up the camera, it contains a film set inside. This set includes a camera on a dolly, a directors chair and a whole lighting rig.

Characters included are an award-winning film director and a dramatic actor. According to Lego Ideas, the characters and events depicted in this set are fictitious. Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, or to actual events, is purely coincidental ;).

How can you get one?

The IMAX Camera is currently a LEGO Ideas project. If you are not familiar with LEGO Ideas, it is a concept that LEGO came up with that allows users to come up with their own unique creations.

Here is how it works:

  • HAVE A GREAT IDEA – The idea is the key! Make sure your idea stands out from the crowd and read the guidelines.
  • BUILD IT – Build it, either with actual LEGO bricks or using your favorite virtual building tool.
  • SUBMIT – Take great photos and write a lively description of your build, submit – and wait for our approval.
  • SPREAD THE WORD – Promote your project offline and online to gain the support needed to win.

So far the creator, who goes under the name of KolaHasAwoken has 210 supporters and 422 days left. If you would like to se this project get off the ground and for LEGO to actually start making it you should support the project as it doesn’t cost anything. This project still needs 790 more supporters to get to the next milestone.
