The Sonnet Solo2.5G USB-C to 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter is an inexpensive USB-C to 2.5 Gb Ethernet adapter that adds an RJ45 port with superfast 2.5 Gigabit network connectivity. It allows you to add a 2.5 GbE Ethernet port to most computers that have USB-C or Thunderbolt ports.
If you have a new Ethernet switch capable of supporting 2.5 Gb Ethernet (NBASE-T) you can more than double network performance using existing Cat 5e cabling.
Featuring NBASE-T technology (also known as multi-Gigabit Ethernet), the Solo2.5G adapter supports 2.5 Gb/s link speeds (2.5GBASE-T) over common Cat 5e or better cabling when used with a compatible 2.5 Gb Ethernet switch or 10 Gb Ethernet switch with NBASE-T support. There are very affordable 2.5 GbE models from Asustor, Cisco, D-Link, Netgear, QNAP, TP-Link, TRENDnet, and others that are now available.
Connected to the right switch, you can get performance gains of up to 250 percent the speed of Gigabit Ethernet. If you are connecting to a switch without NBASE-T support, the Solo2.5G also supports 1 Gb/s and 100 Mb/s link speeds.
There’s no software needed for installation. You just connect Solo2.5G to your computer and to the network switch (or directly to 2.5GbE-enabled storage), and then configure the adapter’s settings through the macOS®Network control panel, Windows Device Manager, or Linux command line (or graphical utility).
