New TRACK E pocket audio recorder firmware
The Beta versions of this software have been out since October, but now you can download the final version.
Whats’s new
- Timecode output via headphone jack (0dB & -18dB level)*
- Push notifications to your phone about critical battery states, recording errors and low remaining recording time
- Some bug fixes
* for TRACK E US version you can’t output TC during recording due to legal reasons
The firmware update (2.4.1) is for all TRACK E audio recorders and adds some new features. Every TRACK E can output timecode via headphone out and, therefore, now has two functions.
For timecode-out feature, you need the latest firmware version 2.4.1, and update the Tentacle Setup App (iOS & Android). In the settings of each TRACK E, you can choose the routing for the headphone out and can send TC via cable. That is possible at either 0dB or -18dB.
When notifications is enabled in your app settings, you will get push notifications about critical battery states, recording errors, and low remaining recording time from TRACK E devices, even if the app is running in the background.

Setup App with new Apple Watch features
With the new TRACK E firmware update comes an update for the Setup App as well that includes a feature for all Apple Watches. With the Setup App on your Apple Watch, you can now synchronize your Tentacle devices as well as start/stop the TRACK E audio recorders.

QR code timecode for GoPro12 and free Timebar App
The new GoPro 12 added a very handy feature for timecode synchronization which was previously an experimental firmware version.
Now you can use the SYNC E or TRACK E devices and free Timebar App to generate and display a QR timecode that can be read by a GoPro 12. The camera will record video files with embedded timecode.

TIMEBAR release postponed
The TIMEBAR was a cool product I was able to check out at NAB 2023.
Tentacle Sync wanted to get the TIMEBAR – a multifunctional timecode display – out before the year’s end. Unfortunately, due to production constraints, they won’t be able to meet that timeline and will be postponed for release in 2024.
