Panther Dollies have been a de-facto industry standard in our industry for decades, and now the German grip company has introduced its new X-Type Dolly which features a 360° rotatable High-Low-Turnstile.
The X-Type Dolly column can be detached and taken out from the chassis for easier transport, and the High-Low turnstile eliminates the need for a separate pivot bearing for the column. This makes the column of the X-Type 10kg lighter.
One of the new features is the patented Range Extender, which doubles the lift range and speed without increasing the footprint of the Dolly. This way, a vertical camera movement that starts even lower than before now reaches an even higher-end stop position than previously available.
The Crab & Steer Kit and four different steering modes give the Dolly grip individual movement control.
X-Type Column
The Dolly column has a 360° rotatable and detachable High-Low-Turnstile. The batteries are mounted at the bottom of the column. This provides more legroom for the DOP. Additionally, this gives the dolly a lower center of gravity and minimizes the risk of it tipping over.

The High-Low turnstile eliminates the need for a separate pivot bearing for the column.
RANGE EXTENDER
The patented Range Extender doubles the lift range and speed without increasing the footprint of the Dolly. Panther claims that 100% linear camera movement is available.
TRACKRIDE & PUSHBAR
The patented High-Low-Turnstile offers an extremely low camera position. It can be quickly moved to a lower or higher position without removing the camera from the dolly. Ergonomics have also been improved, thanks to the rotating seat which can be adjusted individually to that of the camera boom.
DETACHABLE CARRYING HANDLES
The carrying handles are removable. This is handy if you are working in tight spaces where every cm is crucial.
CRAB & STEER MECHANISM
The dolly has three steering modes in the basic version: CRAB, FRONT, REAR. The optional Crab & Steer Kit adds the STEER mode allowing for perfect steering geometry. This is made possible by mathematically calculated sprockets in an elyptic design. This design provides low-friction, low-noise, and smooth maneuvering, even when used on curves.
The optional Crab & Steer Kit is perfectly integrated into the Dolly frame. Four different steering modes give the dolly grip individual movement control.
OTHER FEATURES
STEERING SLEEVE
The wheel arms, machined from high-strength aluminum, have steering sleeves that can accommodate versatile accessories.
STEER MODE SELECTOR
The combi-wheel-unit has been expanded to include a steer mode selector with three positions: FIX, FREE, STEER. This allows the desired position to be set with one turn, regardless of whether the dolly is in the standard or narrow gauge.
BRAKE
The brake lever brakes both the track wheel and the stuio/air wheel.
With the center mount, the Dolly serves as a base for jib arms or cranes up to a weight of 800 kg.
The X-Type Dolly can be operated via Panther’s Bluetooth Handset. You can use it wireless or via cable. It allows you to set heights, control speeds, monitor the battery level, etc.
The versatile platforms can be assembled in numerous different ways. They can be mounted on the steering sleeves to create a flat surface, completely without trip hazards. The platforms fit all Panther column Dollies and Magnum Dolly. A case for transport is available.
