We have seen a lot of crossovers this year with companies offering products they didn’t specialize in. Lighting has been a big one. Now Hollyland, best known for wireless video/audio solutions, has entered the camera space with the VenusLiv Streaming Camera.
We had a first look at the camera at NAB 2023. Hollyland changed the name from Venuss Pro and Venuss Air live to VenusLiv. Showing prototypes at trade shows helps manufacturers get instant feedback from potential users, and it looks like Hollyland took what they learned and created the VenusLiv.
The camera boasts an advanced aerospace-grade heat dissipation system to keep it cool for longer streams. You can stream to Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, or other platforms with RTMP support. VenusLiv’s built-in UVC ensures smooth video streaming without external capture cards. Powered by HollyOS, the VenusLiv offers a user-friendly experience, giving you complete control over exposure, ISO, white balance, and aperture. The VenusLiv offers real-time autofocus, horizontal and vertical live streaming and recording, color correction magic, precise zoom capabilities, and flexible connectivity options.
Hollyland states the camera has a 1/2 inch Sony sensor and uses a Qualcomm CPU.
Specifications
Sony NP-F style batteries power the Hollyland VenusLiv. Hollyland states one Sony NP-F 970 battery powers the camera for up to six hours. You can also power with a 12V DC input with a locking connector.
For mounting the VenusLiv has two 1/4″-20 mounting points on the bottom and one on the side. This enables both horizontal and vertical angle options.
VenusLiv offers fast and reliable Wi-Fi or LAN port connections, allowing you to select the connection option that suits your needs. VenusLiv’s USB Video Class (UVC) ensures smooth video streaming without external capture cards. To experience lightning-fast streaming, connect your computer to the VenusLiv using the USB cable.
VenusLiv has advanced 6x zoom capabilities, combining 3x optical and 2x digital zoom to bring your subjects closer. With its 12-megapixel sensor, adjustable aperture, 80° wide field of view, and a minimum focusing distance of 0.5m, the VenusLiv ensures the capture of every detail with sharpness and minimal distortion.
The streaming camera offers versatile connectivity options, allowing you to connect to multiple devices and accessories with its 3.5mm microphone port, HDMI interface, USB-C 2.0 interface, USB-C 3.1 interface, network interface, and other compatible features. The USB-C 2.0 digital audio interface is specially designed to connect to the Lark C1 or LARK MAX.

I think it’s a great idea to have a dedicated camera built for streaming as using a mirrorless camera, while convenient and looks great, can also complicate things and not offer all the bells and whistles a dedicated streaming camera offers.
