ZOLAR Vega 80C 2×1 1000w RGBAW LED Panel

Zolar

ZOLAR has a new Vega 80C high output fixture that resembles a 2×1 design. The Vega 80 has a 1000 Watt power consumption and stated 5,200 Lux at 3 meters when set to 5,600K CCT. Compared to the Vega, which has a low power consumption and an output of 4,200 Lux from 1 meter.

ZOLAR professional LED lighting system is developed by Shenzhen ImagineVision Technology Limited, the same team that created Z CAM Cinema Cameras. ZOLAR lights have excellent color rendition with performances very close to natural daylight. Matt reviewed the ZOLAR 1×1 fixtures and is worth a read.

ZOLAR developed what they call a “Self Adaptive Spectral Nonlinear Dynamic Illuminance Calibration System” that eliminates the inconsistent LED performance issues. In addition, their solution allows a mixture of ZOLAR light series to be used simultaneously without any visible color deviation (color matching mode will be added to other ZOLAR series).

Vega 80C Back

ZOLAR Vega 80C is a 5-color LED light panel with a wide CCT range and stated excellent soft light performance with high fidelity color reproduction. Designed with 5-color full spectrum LEDs and RGBAW algorithm to deliver continuous light spectrum across full CCT range with exceptionally high CRI & TLCI scores, particularly in R9, R12, R13 & R15.

Spectral Similarity Index (SSI)

Vega 80C Front 45 Left

Spectral Similarity Index (SSI) is developed by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to evaluate the fidelity of color reproduction, particularly for LED light, from a single-chip CMOS digital camera point of view. It quantitatively compares the spectrum of the test light with that of a desired reference light source, expressing the similarity as a single number on a scale up to 100. High values indicate a high likelihood of high-fidelity color reproduction by most cameras. SSI of ZOLAR Vega is close to or exceeds 90 across the full CCT range (2,000K ~ 20,000K), a leading standard in the industry.

A higher score implies higher fidelity in color reproduction, particularly skin tone. This is exactly why these scores exist.

The new ZOLAR Vega 80C is a powerful fixture with a rated 1000-watt consumption. It will be a much more specialized light for large soft coverage, plus the added excellent color rendition is nice. The fixture is also waterproof making it a good candidate for a wet set environment.
It’s not lightweight, as it comes in at 44 lbs or 20 kg.

Pricing and Availability

The new ZOLAR Vega 80C will retail for $2,999. The release date has not been announced yet.
