Keslow Camera has added a new lens to its rental fleet, the 27-128mm Keslow Renaissance Zoom T3.6. This is a rental-only lens that is quite unique.
Keslow Camera took an Angenieux Optimo 17-80mm T2.2 as their base lens and then modified it to increase various characteristics that are sought after by cinematographers. The 17-80mm T2.2 was designed as a high-performance zoom that gives you a focal length range that is similar to a set of primes. At T2.2 it is faster than most other zooms and it features no ramping, virtually no focus breathing, very close focus, and all the benefits of Angenieux’s color, contrast, and character.
The lens has increased edge falloff, slightly lowered contrast, and beautiful painterly bokeh. As the original Angenieux Optimo zoom was only designed for S35 sensors, it was modified to cover modern, full-frame camera sensors.
The 27-128mm Keslow Renaissance Zoom T3.6 has a minimum focus distance of 2′ 3″, a 136mm front diameter, and weighs 13.5 lb / 6.12 kg.
