Canon C70 Firmware Update Coming December 8th

Canon announced a new C70 Firmware Update that will be available December 8th with new latest codecs added, eye and face detection, audio metering and streaming, gamma, lens servo, and LUT support options.

Intra-frame compression choices now include 4K60p XF-AVC capture and new 24p 240 Mb/s, 30p 300 Mb/s, and 60p 600 Mb/s bitrates. And with a 64GB card, you can record up to 35 minutes at 24p and up to 14 minutes at 60p.

Lens control updates include full communications with the Cine-Servo 15-120mm EF lens, including DPAF (dual-pixel AF) and DP Focus Guide Support for the Flex Zoom 45-135mm EF Lens with DP Focus Guide.

For live streamers, support for Canon’s XC Protocol enables IP-based remote control with the optional RC-IP100 controller.

Imaging tools have been updated with enhanced mid-range contrast and an emphasis on accurate skin tones using Canon 709 Custom Picture Profile, gamma, and CMT 709 viewing LUT options. At speeds from 24-120p, you will get tracking and eye and face detection in Slow/Fast motion modes, and 4-channel audio levels can now be viewed onscreen to help you obtain optimal sound quality.

The Canon C70 firmware update will be available for download on December 8, 2022.
