The Insta360 Link is an AI-powered 4K UHD webcam that is claimed to provide high resolution, good image quality, and an intuitive user experience.
The Insta360 Link features a 1/2’’ sensor, that the company claims is capable of high dynamic range in any lighting conditions. A 3-axis gimbal and built-in AI algorithms were designed so that users could keep themselves in frame.
The webcam has gesture controls and modes such as DeskView where the camera will automatically pan down onto your desk to show another view.
The Insta360 Link can stream in 4K UHD at up to 30fps. There are several resolutions and frame rates to choose from, as well as an HDR mode. Below are the full list of resolutions and frame rates that can be used:
- 4K@24/25/30fps
- 1080p@24/25/30/50/60fps
- 720p@24/25/30/50/60fps
The camera has an f1.8 aperture lens and a 26mm (35mm equivalent) focal length.
Link uses Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and auto exposure technology. Users also have full control over settings for brightness, exposure, white balance, etc. through the use of the companion Link Controller software.
The ISO can be adjusted from 100-3200 ISO. The minimum distance that the AF will work at is 10cm / 4″ to ∞. The white balance can be manually changed from 2000-10000K.
Link’s AI-powered features make life easier for webcam users in a number of ways. The 3-axis gimbal lens uses AI tracking to follow the user’s movement, keeping them centered at all times. There is also automatic framing and zooming.
For adjustments from a distance, Link responds to gesture controls. Using simple hand gestures, users can enable AI tracking, zoom in and out, and activate other camera modes.
Additional specialized modes are also available. These are:
Whiteboard Mode: Enhance a designated whiteboard area to give students or meeting participants a much clearer view.
Portrait Mode: Live stream with a totally uncropped 9:16 view for optimal mobile viewing and better image quality.
Overhead Mode: Capture precisely level top-down views with Link mounted on a table stand, perfect for unboxing a product or sketching a design.
To protect your privacy, the Insta360 Link will automatically point downwards within 10 seconds of inactivity after finishing a call.
Link also features dual noise-canceling mics, easy mounting with a built-in screen clip and a 1/4” mount. It is fully compatible with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Google Meet, and various other platforms on both macOS and Windows computers.

Insta360 Link is available to order from August 2nd, 2022 and it will retail for $299.99 USD. It comes with the webcam, 4 reusable whiteboard recognition markers, a USB-C cable and USB-C to A adapter.
