Azden SGM-250H Shotgun Microphone

The Azden SGM-250H Shotgun Microphone is a durable, high-performance mic designed for professionals. It features a hyper-cardioid electret capsule, and an extra-long interference tube, which enables the SGM-250H to deliver ultralow noise and a highly directional pickup pattern that rejects a significant amount of extraneous noise from the sides, while maintaining true-to-life quality sound.

The SGM-250H is the replacement for the SGM-250 and Azden claims that the 50% longer interference tube helps with side-noise rejection.

There is a switchable high-pass filter at 75 Hz for mitigating low-frequency noise. The enclosure of the microphone is made of rugged aluminum and brass alloy for durability and excellent RF interference protection.

The SGM-250H looks suitable for boom-pole applications, and for recording sound in an environment with high levels of background noise.

With a focused hyper-cardioid pickup pattern, the SGM-250H can help you optimize your recordings by producing a better signal-to-noise ratio and thereby helping you capture more articulate intelligible dialogue.

The frequency response is wide and flat with a slight bump in the midrange for capturing the nuances of speech without sacrificing quality. A low signal-to-noise ratio and gold-plated XLR connectors are claimed to ensure a clean, natural-sounding signal with minimal obstructive noise.
