The first shipments of Sony’s flagship digital cinema camera, the VENICE 2 have now been received by rental houses and select dealers. Keslow Camera, Otto Nemenz, and Panavision have already received and sent cameras out to major productions.
The VENICE 2 builds upon the strength of the original VENICE and it features a new 8.6K full-frame image sensor with a claimed dynamic range of 16 stops. The camera also comes in a smaller, more lightweight body with the ability to capture X-OCN and 4K Apple ProRes 4444 and 422 HQ internally.
The original VENICE was arguably Sony’s most successful high-end digital cinema camera and the VENICE 2 looks to be a solid upgrade.
