Flanders Scientific has announced its new BM241 24″ professional display for use in production, editorial, and broadcast environments. The BM241 is equipped with live side-by-side viewing for two signals, look LUT support, dual-link SDI compatibility, an advanced Video Data Analyzer, and HDR Preview modes.

The BM241 is a larger format version of Flanders Scientific popular BM211 and it fits into multiple monitor environments.

The monitor only has a resolution of 1920×1080 and it is only 8-bit. It has 300nits of brightness and a contrast ratio of 1300:1. It covers Rec.709, DCI-3, and SMPTE-C color spaces.

The BM241 is equipped with a newly designed backlight that offers expanded color gamut capabilities, improved contrast, and better perceptual matching between Flanders Scientific entry-level displays and their top-of-the-line DM and XM series monitors.

FSI’s 2nd generation Color Fidelity and LUT Interpolation Engine (CFE2) houses multiple 4,913 point (173) calibration and DIT (look) LUTs for highly accurate color reproduction and effective look management. This allows you to select from Rec709, EBU, SMPTE-C, DCI P3, Rec2020 Emulation*, Native Wide Gamut, and Custom User Generated color spaces.

*Does not fully cover Rec2020

Additional gamma, peak luminance, and color temperature toggles further add to the versatility of this monitor.

All CFE2 equipped monitors also feature an easy-to-use menu toggle to instantly switch between data (full) range monitoring or video (legal) range monitoring modes.

All Flanders Scientific monitors come pre-calibrated from the factory, but you can also perform your own 3D LUT-based calibration with advanced color management solutions like LightIllusion’s LightSpace CMS or SpectraCal’s CalMAN. You can also upload and store up to 16 3D DIT LUTs and instantly toggle between them using the up and down buttons.

C-Log, S-Log, S-Log2, S-Log3, and BMD-Log monitoring modes allow for rough normalization of C-Log, S-Log, S-Log2, S-Log3, and BMD Film Log signals.

The BM241 features the normal comprehensive array of video scopes and monitoring assist tools.

There is also the ability to do live side-by-side monitoring in mixed formats, mixed frame rates, and even mixed input types to be viewed together in PAP, PIP, or POP configurations. Horizontal and vertical split-screen viewing with adjustable split positioning is also possible with two sources that share the same resolution and frame-rate.
