RED has finally made the KOMODO available to order and published the full specifications of the camera.
Various color versions for the camera have been around for quite a few months in a beta program but now the black production versions are finally available to order for $5,995 USD.
The camera is in an interesting space, with the Canon C70 priced at $5,499 and the upcoming FX6 to be announced. Z Cam also has quite a few offerings including their E2-S6 6K Super 35 camera for $2,499.
One key advantage that KOMODO has is the global shutter which will be a big deal for tracking and fast-moving shots.

RED claims that the KOMODO has a dynamic range of 16+ stops, with a max 120fps at 2K or 40fps at 6K when recording RED RAW or ProRes.

Accessories
Like any other box shape camera, you will need to add a few accessories to make the camera more operator friendly. There are already a number of cage and accessory solutions from third-party manufacturers. Don’t forget to add a monitor as well.

The KOMODO Expander Module is designed to support professional shooting configurations. With options for video, power, and communication connections, including Genlock (BNC), GPI (BNC), Timecode in (BNC), and CTRL (4-pin). The KOMODO Expander Module creates the flexibility to support a vast array of options when it comes to how users will rig their KOMODO.
