ARRI PCA has extended the ARS accessory rail product line with two additional lengths and the new versatile accessory cube ARC-1. They have also announced the Lightweight Lens Support (LLS-1), Handle Extensions (HEX1-5; HEX-90), and Shells, as well as the Bicycle Grip Adapter (BGA-1 + BGA-2.
Accessory Rail System
Like the ARS-1, the ARS-2 and ARS-3 share the same rail interface as the SMB and the LMB Accessory Adapter. Two ball-pressure pieces on each side of the rail prevent an attached Accessory Rail Bracket ARB-1 or the new ARC-1 from slipping off. Slotted holes in the ARS-2 and ARS-3 extend the application area and allow to move the rails into the desired position. All rails are compatible with 3/8-16” interfaces where the anti-twist pin holes are included. The ARRI Multi-Hex screw (4 different tools compatible: Hex 3, Hex 4, Hex 5, and 5/32) is included in all the rails.
The Accessory Rail Cube ARC-1 is the successor of the Accessory Rail Bracket ARB-1 and will replace it within the next couple of months. Through its cube design there are four additional interfaces available. Therefor the usage in all axes is possible.
Lightweight Lens Support (LLS-1)
The LLS-1 is a multifunctional solution for lenses with a diameter between 39 mm and 153 mm. It offers a 3/8″ and a 1/4″ interface for lenses with an included lens support pin. Lenses without a pin, such as an Alura Lightweight Zoom, Prime lenses, or still photo lenses can be supported by using the bracket with plastic support rollers. When necessary, the LLS-1 can be flipped in order to extend the range of support possibilities.
Handle Extensions (HEX1-5; HEX-90) and Shells
The Handle Extensions follow the design of the Camera Center Handle CCH-4. The number of each HEX refers to the number of 3/8”-16 interfaces on the top (HEX-1 has one and HEX-5 five of them). They can be connected in multiple ways in order to extend a top handle but also to build your own handle design. Every HEX offers a 3/8-16” screw at the front (ARRI Multi-HEX screw with 4 different tool options) with two anti-twist locating pins and the corresponding thread interface at the back. Multiple RMB-3, as well as ¼”-20 interfaces, are included as well.
The system can also be used to build a so-called “Hollywood Handle”. This allows you to operate the camera from the back without touching the on-board battery.
The Handle Extension Set comes in a foam inlay that fits in a Peilicase 1179 (Pelicase not included).
Bicycle Grip Adapter (BGA-1 + BGA-2)
The BGA-1 adapter lets you securely attach common bicycle grips with a standard inner diameter of 22 mm/ 0.87″ and a length of up to 136 mm. This allows you to choose the material and ergometry of the handle according to your own requirements. A counter screw at the rear end prevents the bicycle handle from accidentally slipping off.
The BGA-1 comes with a 3/8”-16 screw/two anti-twist pins at the front and 3/8”-16 thread with anti-twist pin hole interface at the rear and works very well with ARRI`s Handle Extension System HEX.
