Panasonic releases Lumix G100 Vlogging Camera

Panasonic has just announced the Lumix G100 camera which is the world’s smallest mirrorless interchangeable lens camera with a free-angle LCD.

The camera is designed with for vloggers in mind with the articulating flip screen and the optional tripod grip (DMW-SHGR1).

The camera is very compact, weighing 412g with the 12-32mm kit lens and has dimensions of 4.55 x 3.25 x 2.13″ / 115.6 x 82.5 x 54.2 mm.

The 12-32mm Kit lens has a variable aperture of f/3.5-5.6.

The DMW-SHGR1 tripod grip connects to the camera via USB and provides start/stop video recording, shutter release and enable/disable sleep mode.

Built-in Bluetooth & WiFi 2.4GHz is also available for wireless transferring images & videos to smartphones.

When recording internally, it uses a 4:2:0 8-bit codec but can output 4:2:2 8-bit signal when recording externally.

V-Log L is included from the start without any need to unlock any licenses or update firmware.

OZO Audio

The G100 includes an integrated OZO Audio by Nokia sound system hat uses three internal microphones to record audio to track the voice of a detected person, automatically switching to the most appropriate sound mode for the situation.


The G100 can be compared directly to the recent Sony ZV1.

The Sony ZV1 differs in that it has a 1″ 20.1MP sensor, with a fixed lens (24-70mm equivalent) with f/1.8-2.8 max aperture. It can also shoot UHD 4k30p Video with various colour profiles including HLG & S-Log3 Gammas. The screen is also a 3″ flip-out touchscreen.

It has very similar dimensions of 4.15 x 2.36 x 1.71″ / 105.5 x 60 x 43.5 mm, making it smaller than the G100 and is also lighter, at 294g with the battery & memory card.

Unlike Panasonic’s tripod grip, the Sony GP-VPT2BT grip connects wirelessly and also provides a zoom rocker
