We have just launched the Newsshooter forum. This is a forum for our readers and it is designed so that intelligent, thoughtful conversations and debate can take place across a wide range of subjects.
You can start up a topic, comment on topics, reviews, and gear. There are also sections for general discussions on the industry as well as a marketplace section where you can buy & sell gear.
We have designed the forum so it can evolve and change depending on what our readers want. This is a forum by our readers for our readers.
How do you register?
It is simple to register. You just go the forum page and click on the Sign Up tab in the top right of the screen. You then enter your details and create your account. Once your account has been created you will receive an email notification with sign in details.
When you are registering for the forum we would prefer if you use your real name. Using real names helps keep the forum civil and respectful. It also allows other users to know who they are talking to.
Also, we strongly encourage you to introduce yourself in the New Member Introductions section. This way people know exactly who you are and what you do.
Since filmmaking & video production is so broad there are quite a few sections that we have added into the forum. Feel free to minimise sections to make it easier to navigate and browse.
There are a few main sections in the forum. Gear Talk, is simply that. Discussions about cameras, equipment and specific products.
From here, each aspect of video production is broken up into their topics. We can always add more down the track so if you have any topic suggestions feel free to reach out to us.
As creatives, there is always something new we can learn from each other which is why we also have a section for critiques and feedback. Also, share completed projects with snaps from behind the scenes so we can see how your final piece was put together.
As mentioned earlier in the article, we will have a dedicated marketplace section. We are currently sorting out the rules & guidelines as we won’t be allowing new users to simply post a listing straight away.
Forum Rules & Guidelines
Forums are notoriously hard to police. Newsshooter will have four of our long time readers as moderators. They will do their best to moderate comments and control the forum. We have strict rules and guidelines governing the use of the forum and we will have zero tolerance for anyone who breaks the rules.
Below you can read the forum rules and guidelines:

This is not a place where we will tolerate bad language, threatening or disrespectful remarks, or any form of religious or sexually-orientated comments.
The administrators and moderators of Newsshooter have the final say in removing or censoring any posts or comments that they deem to have violated the forum rules and guidelines. All posted messages public and private express the views of the author, and the owners of Newsshooter will not be held responsible for the content of any message.
By agreeing to the forum rules and guidelines, you accept that you will not post any messages that are sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, obscene, vulgar, or otherwise violative any laws. Newshooter has a ZERO TOLERANCE for anyone breaking these rules. Any user who is deemed to have broken any of these rules will have their account and their ability to post on the forum revoked immediately.

Why did we create a forum?
As I mentioned earlier, this is a forum by our readers for our readers. It has been designed because numerous people reached out to us and were asking for a forum to be created. You asked and we listened!
Enjoy the forum and please remember to play nice! We don’t want to have to take your toys off you and not let you play with the other kids.
Please bear with us as there may be some initial bugs with the forum, but we will attempt to sort out issues as they arise.
