Today NAB announced the show is canceled.
In the interest of addressing the health and safety concerns of our stakeholders and in consultation with partners throughout the media and entertainment industry, we have decided not to move forward with NAB Show in April. We are currently considering a number of potential alternatives to create the best possible experience for our community.
I do feel it was the best decision to cancel with so many other large events all over the world being postponed or just not happening. We are living in some crazy times.
As for new product releases and how Newsshooter will cover them, we will have to figure it all out. Many companies are having web-based conferences and we will probably see more of these types of events announced in the coming days. What is hard for them is they don’t get the feedback from potential users and that is really what these trade shows are for. A product could not come to market if the excitement isnt there for it or big changes could be implemented by feedback given. This type of information is very valuable when creating a new product.
What’s Next?
Good question! Since this virus is just now sweeping in and hasn’t peaked we don’t know how events or large gatherings will be handled in the near future. This could wipe out the rest of the year and that would have a huge impact on the economy. When you tell people to stay home they don’t spend money.
