Key features

  • E-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
  • Aperture Range: f/1.2 to f/16
  • Three Aspherical & Three SLD Elements
  • Hyper Sonic Motor AF System

This is a very fast full frame 35mm prime lens that Sigma has designed specifically for full frame mirrorless cameras.

The Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art Lens is Sigma’s first prime lens design with an f/1.2 maximum aperture. Sigma claims that it delivers excellent image quality while optimizing size and weight.

The lens design consists of 17 elements in 12 groups. Three low dispersion glass elements and three aspherical elements, including a double-sided element, effectively control spherical aberrations and distortion for increased sharpness and accurate rendering. A rounded 11-blade diaphragm is said to produce pleasing bokeh.

The lens includes a large Hyper Sonic Motor that Sigma claims gives users quick, smooth, and quiet autofocus performance with full-time manual focus override. While the aperture ring’s de-click switch can prevent unwanted noise from being recorded while capturing video with sound, the built-in Autofocus-Lock (AFL) button can be assigned additional functions to widen the range of operations available on the lens.

The front lens element has been treated with a water- and oil-repellent coating to benefit working in harsh environmental conditions. Weather-resistant construction with a brass bayonet that affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity.

14-24mm F2.8 DG DN

Key features

  • E-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
  • Aperture Range: f/2.8 to f/22
  • One FLD Element, Five SLD Elements
  • Three Aspherical Elements

Just like the 35mm F1.2, this lens was designed from the ground up, specifically for mirrorless full frame cameras. The lens design consists of 18 elements in 13 groups.

The Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG DN Art Lens provides a versatile range of wide-angle focal lengths with claimed excellent image quality while optimizing size and weight.

The lens features a sophisticated optical design, and a series of low dispersion and aspherical elements are used to minimize both chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range in order to achieve high sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy. A Super Multi-Layer Coating combined with a Nano Porous Coating also helps to suppress lens flare and ghosting to a greater degree than conventional anti-reflective coatings.

Though full-time manual focus is available, this lens is equipped with a stepping motor that enables smooth, high-speed autofocusing that is notably quiet whether utilizing features such as Face/Eye Detection AF or during video shooting. A built-in Autofocus-Lock (AFL) button can be assigned additional functions to widen the range of operations available on the lens, while inside, a rounded 11-blade diaphragm improves image quality by helping to create smooth bokeh. Additionally, a built-in lens hood serves to protect the front element as well as prevent stray light from causing flare.

Locking rear filter

As you can’t attach any filters to the front of the 14-24mm, Sigma has added a lockable rear filter holder.

45mm F2.8 DG DN

Key features

  • E-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
  • Aperture Range: f/2.8 to f/22\
  • Soft, Smooth, Rounded Bokeh
  • High-Speed AF with Stepping Motor

Sigma has designed the 45mm F2.8 to be compact and lightweight. At F2.8 it’s not that fast for a prime lens.

The Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens is a normal-length prime that optimizes size as well as weight while rendering notably smooth bokeh with rounded out-of-focus highlights in both the foreground and background. Coupled with its ability to soften the periphery of blurred images while enhancing the three-dimensional impression of an object, its 9.5″ minimum focusing distance makes it suitable for snapshots to tabletop photos, or any imagery where you wish to make your subject stand out.

Though full-time manual focus is available, this lens is equipped with a stepping motor that enables smooth, high-speed autofocusing that is notably quiet whether utilizing features such as Face/Eye Detection AF or during video shooting. A rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to the smooth bokeh, and a lens hood is included, which can protect the front element as well as prevent stray light from causing flare.

This lens will be available in both Sony E mount and Panasonic L-mount.

Price & availability

The 35mm F1.2 will retail for $1499 USD and it will be available from the 26th July. The 14-35mm F2.8 will start shipping in August for $1399 USD. The 45mm F2.8 will be available at the end of July for $599 USD.
