Zacuto has announced the Polaris Baseplate System that is designed to works with any mirrorless and DSLR camera.
The Polaris Baseplate system consists of a camera plate, mounting plate (combined is the Polaris QR Mount) and a 15mm rod support base.

To customize your rig, Zacuto has additional accessories such as mirrorless camera cages and a Polaris Shoulder Pad.
The Polaris Baseplate uses Zacuto’s own ‘Arca Swiss’ compatible quick release system. To create a quick release system, you start with the Polaris QR Plate (PQR). If you need to add rods to your rig, you have two options. The first option is to use your existing QR Plate and add the Polaris Rod Support to create the Polaris Baseplate. The second option is to purchase a complete Polaris Baseplate and use your existing Polaris QR plate for the tripod quick release.
The Polaris Baseplate has been designed with speed in mind. To mount your camera into the quick release: snap it in, slide to find your perfect balance and then lock it into place with a 1 1/4 turn. To Release your camera, 1 1/4 turn of the knob and then pull to release.
Zacuto’s mirrorless camera cages are Polaris compatible- the camera plate is built-into the bottom of the cages allowing you to quickly transition between shooting styles. The cages are form-fitting, lightweight and compact. They include a comfortable hand strap so you can utilize the natural grip of the camera. The cages also feature a built-in Z-Rail and numerous ¼ 20 screw holes so you can mount all your accessories as well as side and top handles.
Zacuto’s mirrorless cages include the Panasonic GH5/GH5s, Sony A7III, A7RIII and A9, Blackmagic 4K Pocket Camera, Nikon Z7/Z6, Panasonic S1, and Fuji X-T3. By adding the Polaris camera plate, you can mount any camera or any manufacturer’s cage to the Polaris system.
