Samsung Galaxy S10+ used to shoot ‘Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon’

For the original episode ‘A Night Out in New York City with Jimmy Fallon’, the Samsung Galaxy S10+ was exclusively used to film the episode.

From the behind-the-scenes video, you can see that there is more to it than just the phone itself. The S10+ was used handheld, on the DJI Osmo 2 and on tripods. There is also a separate audio team and in some sets, proper lighting setups.

Three camera setups are becoming more common. This allows for three different focal lengths including the ultra wide camera which has a 123-degree field of view.

Earlier this month, the Galaxy S10+ was also used to film on other NBC shows including “TODAY”, Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” and E!’s flagship Snapchat show “The Rundown.”

While this is mostly due to the Samsung/NBC Universal partnership, it’s interesting to see how far we’ve come where mobile phones can be used to film broadcast shows.
