Westcott Solix LED with a rotatable speed ring

solix

Westcott has released a new LED light fixture called the Solix.

The Solix is a daylight (5600K) balanced LED fixture rated at 96 CRI with an output of 2,125 lux at 1 meter. The light spread is approximately 120º.

For video work, the Westcott claims flicker-free output up to 960FPS with minimal heat output using a quiet internal fan for cooling.

Modifiers & Accessories

Unlike other light fixtures, the Solix features a rotatable speedring allowing the user to rotate the softbox or light modifier for more control.

Removable barn doors and a frosted diffusion front are included with the light and are attached via the Solix’s magnetic front.

Built for portability

Each fixture weights 3.3 pounds (1.5 kg) and looks quite robust. The 60W light can be powered via AC/DC or any D-Tap/PowerTap 14.8v battery with D-Tap cable.

The light can be mounted via the integrated tilt bracket which also has a standard umbrella mount to use umbrella-style modifiers.

The Solix will be available in December and starts at USD$449.90 for the Solix Compact Kit which includes the light, barndoors, diffuser & travel case.
