Prototype Fujinon MK 50-135mm T2.9 shown at BVE 2017

THe new Fujinon MK cinema zoom lenses for Sony E-mount have attracted a lot of attention since their launch a couple of weeks ago. We tested the MK 18-55mm T2.9 already and found it to have excellent mechanical and optical performance.

At the BVE show in London today we finally got a hands on with a non-working prototype of the sister 50-135mm T2.9 lens. Sadly it didn’t have functioning optics, but we were able to see just how similar it is in design to the 18-55mm. In fact apart from the markings it is practically identical to the shorter focal length zoom. The focus, iris and zoom rings are all in the same position on the lens, meaning that you can do a quick lens swap you don’t have to re-position a follow focus or remote motors.

There is still no price on the 50-135mm, but we expect it to be very similar to the 18-55mm.
