IBC 2016: Visionsmith ReLamp transforms your old halogen light into LED – now in 240v

At the IBC show I talked to Visionsmith about their new ReLamp LED Halogen replacements. The idea is simple yet brilliant. You take your old ARRI fresnel (or compatible light) and remove the old halogen lamp and reflector. You then insert the ReLamp LED unit and off you go. The whole process takes seconds.

Your old light is transformed into a LED with similar light quality and output. CRI and TLCI is high on all models, for example the quoted value for the daylight 2K is 94 CRI and 96 TLCI, the tungsten version is 98 CRI and 98 TLCI.

The news at the show was that the lights are now available for 240V countries. For the first time users in the the UK and Europe will be able to try these out easily.

If you have a lot of older ARRI type lights hanging around then going for ReLamp instead of a new LED fresnel might be a very economical way to go. Not only are the lights much cooler running, they will also consume far less power.

The ReLamp uses your existing AC dimmers and come in either daylight or tungsten versions. Available sizes range from 300W to 2K. Smaller ones are in development which may be of great interest to news and documentary shooters.
