BIRTV 2016: CAME-TV start shipping Prodigy gimbal for cameras up to 7kg

The new Came-TV Prodigy brushless gimbal is designed for larger cameras like the Red, Blackmagic, Sony FS and Canon Cinema cameras. At the BIRTV show in Beijing this week they were showing it off and announcing that it has started shipping. We previously saw the prototype Prodigy at the NAB show in April, but since then the specifications have been upgraded to allow even heavier cameras up to 7kg (originally it was specified as 5kg).

Came-TV told us that the Prodigy is running the latest 32-bit Controller with Encoder Technology for enhanced stability and battery efficiency. The Prodigy uses a tool-less design and can be balanced using the latches on the mount. It also features a wireless remote to control the gimbal and comes with a portable stand and hard case.

One very nice touch is that the Prodigy battery pack uses four regular RC batteries that can be easily purchased. This should make air travel with the gimbal a lot easier as the smaller cells are less likely to give you headaches at airport security.

At NAB we were originally quoted a retail price of $1,688 US, but with the changes there also seems to have been a price rise to $1998 US.
