Faced with the task of mounting DSLR-sized cameras to the inside of several taxis for a week at a time, Lance Lundstrom from Rigwheels didn’t want to trust his camera gear to traditional car suction mounts.
These are often fine while they’re working but it’s only ever a matter of time before the cup loses suction and the rig detaches. Whether you’re there to catch it or not is obviously something of a lottery.
![The Rigwheels system is modular, so as well as a small articulated arm and camera inside, when built up it can also support a larger payload outside the vehicle.](https://www.newsshooter.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/IMG_5188-e1461183989200-450x600.jpg)
Rigwheels’ solution, at least to mounting on a windscreen or window, is simple and elegant. A pair of double strength magnets sit either side of the glass and hold your rig in place securely. The mounts shown in the video above will hold up to a DSLR-sized camera – they’re $50 US each, in stock and shipping soon.
