Westcott launch a iOS app for remote controlling the Ice Light 2

Westcott has announced a neat little iOS app for their popular Ice Light 2. The app gives users the ability to control their lighting from any Apple iOS device. The new Westcott app connects wirelessly to any Ice Light 2 model via Bluetooth. From the app, you can can check battery life and increase/decrease the output of the light.

The Ice Light 2 has a 50% brighter output than the original model. The Ice Light 2 offers 1,740 lumens of 5500K daylight-balanced light output with a claimed CRI of 96.

Westcott claim that the Ice Light 2’s built­-in bluetooth can connect to the app over distances up to 100 feet away. Users can connect up to 10 Ice Light 2s in a single window and change the name of each individual light for quick identification. The Westcott app Interface utilizes a simple slider that allows complete control of the Ice Light 2 brightness. The brightness settings can be adjusted over 18 settings: Low, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, 9.0, 9.5, & High.

You can download the app here. Unfortunately it wont work with the original Ice Light, only the Ice Light 2. ** Customers who purchased the Ice Light 2 before April 2015 may not have a Bluetooth equipped device. If you find that you cannot connect your Ice Light 2 to the app, you may be eligible to receive a free Ice Light 2 upgrade. If this is the case, you can send an email request along with your Ice Light 2’s serial number to [email protected].
