PL lenses are usually of a very high quality and if you intend to use one with a 1.4x or 2x TeleExtender then it is important to get the right one. While there are some cheap PL extenders around, from my personal experience they leave a lot to be desired when it comes to maintaining the image quality.
Duclos Lenses has set out to change this, and they have announced a brand new PL mount 2x TeleExtender which aims to best the industry’s most established brands. According to the company, the 2x TeleExtender features an all new optical design paired with superb, robust mechanics. As with any other 2x extender, expect a 2 stop light loss, but according to Duclos Lenses don’t expect to sacrifice image quality. The optical design is said to maintain the highest possible image quality from the center to the Super 35 field and beyond. Delivery is expected in Spring 2016. Priced from $4,995US.

The Duclos 2X Extender features an integrated back focus adjustment for quick, easy field adjustments. No need for shimming. Designed and manufactured with high grade, anodized aluminum body and stainless steel PL mounts.
The Duclos Lenses 2x TeleExtender looks to be very competitively priced when you look at some of the other options on the market. The IB/E Optics PLx2 2x Extender is $5100US, but it does have the ability to be paired with the Universal Mount System (UMS) so you can change the mount to Canon EF, MFT and Sony E Mount. There are also 2x extenders from Arri, Angenieux, MTF and Schneider Optics.
Newsshooter will hopefully get a chance to test the Duclos Lenses PL mount 2x TeleExtender to see just how well it performs.
