We’ll be rounding off our coverage of CineGear 2015 this week – first up is news of SmallHD’s newest on-camera monitor. After revealing their 502 display at NAB this year, SmallHD brought its baby brother the 501 to CineGear. It had the same full HD IPS display as the 502, but without SDI connections and has a correspondingly lower price. LUTs can be switched on and off during monitoring and playback to give viewers on set a better idea of what a final image might look like, and it’s possible to customise the look and feel of the display by positioning and resizing elements like the audio meters.
It is also compatible with the Sidefinder accessory which transforms it into an EVF.
The 501 and the 502 are available now from SmallHD.
