Movcam were showing their new wireless FIZ (focus, iris, zoom) controller at NAB. The system works off the wi-fi band, 2.4Ghz and has selectable channels. It features a small, compact receiver where you can click in different modules depending on whether you want to just control just one, two or all three factions. The system is powered off either 12v or 30v and can even control traditional ENG lenses as well. The FIZ unit also self calibrates automatically and features a very intuitive touch screen on the controller that offers lots of flexibility.
Movcam says that the motors being used are extremly quiet and are one of the quietest available on the market today. You can also store lens files in the controller to allow even faster set up and calibration times.
The 3 channel FIZ system should be shipping within two months and will cost $9900 US. A single channel version will be $3900 US.
The company was also showing a clever remote start/stop trigger for the popular Sony a7S.
