NAB 2015: LitePanels Astra

By Newsshooter.com contributor Elliot Smith

The Litepanels Astra range of LED lights replace the original, wildly popular, 1×1 LitePanel.  The Astra offers up to four times more light in a similar shape and sized fixture with better colour rendition than the previous versions.

The back panel is modular, meaning it’s possible to add features like RJ45 or XLR communications as and when you need them. A Bluetooth module is also in development, which will enable control of intensity and colour from the comfort of your mobile phone.

Other options include an accessory mount bracket to make grids and modifiers from the original 1x1s compatible with the new lights; and a lightweight snapback softbox.

The entry-level Astra E starts at $600, rising to around $1500 for the top-of-the-range bicolor version.
