The team at AES has created the DaVinci high performance three-axis gimbal to serve the professional market and enable a complete aerial platform for the Red Epic that complies with the FAA 55b (24.9kg) weight limit.

The DaVinci marries AES’ industry-leading stabilized gimbal with the RED Epic Dragon 19 megapixel camera to provide customers with highest resolution available in an FAA-compliant unmanned aerial system. This camera system can be operated wirelessly while mounted on rotary-wing aircraft or vehicle to provide super-HD imagery. Previously unachievable shots will now be available to cinematographers. The DaVinci gimbal weighs 15 lb. (6.8kg), or 23 lb. (10.4kg) with the RED camera integrated. There are a number of different zoom lens options available. The gimbal features continuous 360° rotation in pan, tilt and roll and options for wired and wireless control.

The entire gimbal and camera system packs into a single carrying case. With no export restrictions on the camera system, DaVinci represents the highest performing option for you next project anywhere in the world.

While the Davinci Professional Cinema Gimbal is not going to be cheap, it could well be the versatile gimbal solution a lot of RED Epic/Dragon users have been looking for. It will be interesting to see if the new RED Weapon that is being announced at NAB will work with this system.

AES will be officially launching the DaVinci at NAB. They will be located in booth SU14105.
