By technical editor Matt Allard:
Australian microphone maker Rode continues to make big strides in the audio industry. Along with releasing numerous of new products this year they were also awarded the Premier’s NSW Export Award for Manufacturing in 2013.
I went over to Rode headquarters in Western Sydney to tour the factory and caught up with Ryan. He hinted that the company has some big releases scheduled for 2015:
Peter Freedman founded RODE Microphones 24 years ago when Australia was entering a recession and he was personally in debt. Freedman, who at the time was installing sound systems, decided he was going to start building and selling his own microphones.
Today Rode has more than 150 employees across three continents and manufacturers and exports more than half a million microphones a year.
Peter Freedman has been quoted saying – “I take risks – calculated risks, but I do it.” The company’s results certainly speak for themselves. Rode now has a stellar reputation as being a World leader in microphone technology. Sound engineers, musicians and filmmakers in more than a 100 countries use Rode products on a daily basis.
