Teradek’s Bolt Pro 2000 SDI wireless transmitter gets long range test

Teradek announced their Bolt Pro 2000 SDI wireless transmitter/receiver earlier this year, claiming an greatly increased range over the existing Bolt. Range is claimed at 2000ft in open space and to prove their point Teradek have posted a pretty impressive video. They also demonstrate how it also re-establishes signal after an interruption:

As with the original Bolt there is supposedly very little delay at around 1ms. It can support resolutions up to 1080/60P.

For live news applications I can see the Bolt Pro 2000 having an advantage over competing units due to its compact size. The most obvious use will be to use it to do live crosses within range of a satellite truck or internet connection. Other uses might include Octocopter mounting for users who want maximum range.

Sadly this performance doesn’t come cheap. At $7990 this is for serious users only.
