MUTINY has released the PIXBOOM SPARK PRO CAGE, a modular aluminum cage for the Pixboom Spark high-speed cinema camera. It is priced at $500 USD and starts shipping on October 1, 2026.
The Spark itself is small. It has a machined aluminum alloy body that weighs less than 1.1kg and measures 108 × 110 × 130mm (4.25 × 4.33 × 5.12 inches). That size leaves few places to rig from without a cage, and this is MUTINY’s answer for productions that need to build the camera out. Check out our article on Newsshooter about the Pixboom Spark.
Design
The cage has attachment points on both sides and across the top of the camera. MUTINY left the bottom open to baseplate choice, so users can pair it with the baseplate system they already use rather than a proprietary one.
The side, top, and front mounting points use 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 threads with locating pin holes, which accept anti-twist accessories. The front edge has additional tapped holes that MUTINY says are reserved for accessories it may release later.
A high-speed camera produces a lot of heat, so cooling matters. MUTINY designed the cage so it does not block the intake or exhaust sides of the Spark.
Power IO integration
The rear back plate has tapped holes for an optional locking brace that MUTINY is developing for its Spark IO module. MUTINY has not announced a price or release date for the brace.
For reference, the MUTINY SPARK Power + IO expansion module adds timecode, R/S, Genlock, a rear record button, tally, UART, DC input, EXT passthrough, D-Tap, and fused 2-pin power outputs. It connects to the Spark through the camera’s 9-pin accessory port. It sells for $850 in V-Mount or Gold Mount versions. A brace that locks the module to the cage would take stress off that connection, which matters on handheld and gimbal rigs.
PIXBOOM Spark
The PIXBOOM Spark uses a 14.2MP Super 35mm global shutter CMOS sensor. The camera is capable of capturing 4.6K Open Gate at up to 670fps, 4K 16:9 at up to 887fps, 3.8K 16:9 at up to 937fps, and 2K at up to 1724fps. The camera costs $13,999, which includes the camera, a 2.5TB Pixboom Pro Card, and one lens mount adapter (E, EF, or PL).
