RØDE has released the LPA1, a desk-clamped studio arm designed to hold a microphone below the camera’s line of sight. It is aimed at video podcasts, live streaming, and other on-camera setups where a traditional overhead boom arm would sit in the frame.
The LPA1 has a 2kg / 4.4 lb payload capacity, the highest of any RØDE studio arm. It will hold end-address and side-address microphones, including RØDE’s PodMic, PodMic USB, Procaster and Broadcaster dynamic mics and the NT1 series of large-diaphragm condensers. Construction is all metal.

Reach and positioning
The arm extends 750mm horizontally and adjusts 90° up and 60° down. It articulates through 360 degrees and uses a ball mount at the head, so the mic can be positioned above or below desk level. Folded, the arm measures 367mm long and 150mm high. Fully extended, it reaches 525mm above the desk surface or 200mm below it.
Mounting and cable management
The LPA1 attaches with an included clamp that fits desks up to 70mm thick. No drilling is required. XLR or USB cable runs along the length of the arm and is held in place with four included clips.
Thread compatibility covers 1/4″ UNC, 3/8″ UNC and 5/8″ UNS, so the arm can also carry small cameras, lights and other accessories within the 2kg limit.
