Tilta was showing new accessories for the Sony FX5 at IBC 2026, including Camera Cages for the Sony FX5 and the EVF Extension Kit.
Tilta’s EVF Extension Kit for the Sony FX5 looks to be a good solution if you plan on buying the optional, removable DVF-EL1 Electronic Viewfinder.

The EVF Extension Kit was designed to position the EVF away from the camera. There is a dedicated extension cable that runs from the EVF to a plug hidden behind a little removable door in front of the MI shoe on the camera. Additionally, a multi-axis bracket lets you position your EVF for handheld, shoulder-mounted, or tripod setups.
So why would you need this? While the DVF-EL1 Electronic Viewfinder tilts up and down.

It needs to be connected to its own plug hidden behind a removable door in front of the MI Hot Shoe to get its data and power.
Now, there are caveats with the optional EVF: you can’t use it together with the optional XLR Handle Unit, and you can’t reposition it. This is because both the EVF and the XLR Handle Unit need to be attached to the plug in front of the MI Hot Shoe and the MI Hot Shoe, respectively. It would have been nice if Sony could have come up with their solution to attach the DVF-EL1 Electronic Viewfinder onto the back of the XLR Handle Unit.

Tilta’s solution gives users a 4.1″ / 10.5cm extension range for the rod that the EVF attaches to, and a 2.8″ / 7cm extension range for the height. Tilta hasn’t listed how long the cable extension is.

The Tilta EVF Extension Kit for the Sony FX5 looks like it will be a good solution for relocating the EVF.
Tilta is also working on an adapter so that you can use the EVF and the optional XLR top handle at the same time.
Pricing & Availability
The Tilta EVF Extension Kit for the Sony FX5 will be $199 USD, and it will be available on the 28th of September. The cable by itself will be $129 USD.
Camera Cages
The modular camera cages feature a convertible full and half cage design, accessory mounting, a bi-directional ARCA bottom plate, reinforced protection, and compatibility with the Nucleus Autofocus Adapter.
You can choose from four different configurations:
- Full Camera Cage
- Base Kit
- Power Kit
- Pro Kit
Full Camera Cage for Sony FX5 ($99 USD)
The full cage features three points of contact for a stable, twist-free connection. The cage also breaks down into a lightweight half cage by removing two bottom screws and the handle-side bracket.
The Full Cage features many ways to mount various accessories such as 1/4”-20 and 3/8″-16 threads with various locating points, a cold shoe receiver, a NATO Rail for Top Handles, and mounting points for a Single Rod Holder.
The standalone top plate is a NATO Rail that adds multiple threads for more flexible accessory mounting, while 1/4″-20, 3/8″-16, and NATO, open up mounting options while maintaining support for the camera’s original XLR handle.

A bi-directional ARCA bottom plate slides in from either direction for fast transitions between tripods and gimbals. A new DJI gimbal center-positioning point on the bottom reduces balancing time, and a separate center-positioning point for baseplates helps users build a well-balanced rig.

Reinforced corners on the cage guard against accidental bumps and damage during active filming, giving extra peace of mind for unpredictable shooting environments.

A locking HDMI cable clamp keeps cables secure.
All buttons, dials, and screen functionality are fully accessible. Special clearances are designed to ensure nothing is blocked. The cage is also designed to seamlessly integrate with the Nucleus Autofocus Adapter, letting you use the adapter directly with this cage without interference

The camera’s grip is reshaped and, when combined with the cage’s grip, follows the natural curve of the palm with a dedicated pinky rest.
Camera Cage for Sony FX5 Base Kit ($152.10 USD)
The Base Kit features everything you get with the Full Camera Cage, with the addition of an Xeno Top Handle and Xeno Side Handle, which feature multiple 1/4″-20 connections with locating pins and Cold Shoe Receivers, both attached via NATO rail. These handles also provide more mounting options and better ergonomics and stability for operating.
Camera Cage for Sony FX5 Power Kit ($224.10 USD)
The Power Kit features everything you get with the Full Camera Cage, with the addition of an Adjustable ARCA Receiver and Mini PD Battery Plate, which provides a unique and lightweight option to mount a battery plate without traditional baseplates and 15mm rods.
The Receiver can extend to move the battery plate closer or farther from the camera body, while a swivel hinge also allows users to adjust the angle of their battery relative to their camera body.
The battery plate included with the kit allows users to extend the operating time of their camera and accessories via larger capacity V-Mount batteries and features multiple power output options such as a 60W PD USB-C, a P-Tap, and a 2-Pin Lemo connection.
Unique to this plate are the integrated strap slots, which allow users to connect an included security strap to their V-Mount battery. The battery plate also features 1/4”-20 and M4 threads on the top, allowing the unit to be easily mounted in unique ways via additional adapters or articulating arms.
The P-Tap/2 Pin Lemo Ports provide 20V/3A
Camera Cage for Sony FX5 Pro Kit ($269 USD)
The Camera Cage for Sony FX5 Pro Kit features everything you get with the Full Camera Cage, with the addition of the Xeno Top Handle, which connects to the Top Plate via the Top NATO rail and improves handling. This handle features multiple mounting options for additional accessories, including 1/4″-20 threads and a Cold Shoe Receiver for mounting an external monitor.
The Arca Height Adjustable 15mm LWS Baseplate allows users to adjust the height of their camera in relation to their rods, which helps maintain the LWS 85mm standard between rods and the center of their sensor in order to ensure compatibility with a range of accessories and camera bodies.
Also included is the Xeno Side Handle, which utilizes a NATO connection to mount to the left side of the cage with height adjustability. Non-slip silicone provides a textured grip that improves stability, and mounting points such as a Cold Shoe Receiver and a 1/4″-20 thread with locating points accommodate additional accessories.
