Sony Japan has had so many orders for the new FX5 that they have had to issue a statement saying that, since Tuesday 28th July 2026, orders have far exceeded their expectations, and there may be a delay in delivery.

They go on to say that they are currently doing their utmost to meet their customers’ requests, and they would appreciate customers’ patience for the time being.
The Sony FX5 is capable of recording 5K60 Open Gate (3:2) and 5K120 (16:9) internally in X-OCN RAW, and features three base ISO settings, a VENICE-inspired user interface, and a Multi-Function Dial.
It will be interesting to see if there is a delay in shipments in Japan and how that affects customers getting their FX5s around the globe.
On B&H, both the version with and without the XLR top handle are both liste as Top Sellers.
