PixelTools has released HDR Toolkit. If you are generating dual deliverables (SDR and HDR) for a current project or remastering catalog titles from an archival SDR master, moving an approved look into a high-brightness container usually means a painstaking, manual trim session and an additional approval process.

To overcome these issues, PixelTools came up with the HDR Toolkit, a three-tool DCTL suite for DaVinci Resolve. How it works is that it places the approved SDR master directly within an HDR container, keeping the original look and creative decisions intact. Instead of starting your second deliverable from scratch, you keep the approved image as your foundation and use the trim session strictly to manage how the highlights render.

The tools included:

  • SDRtoHDR: Maps SDR into the HDR container, letting you run a clean trim session focused entirely on highlight roll-off, peak nits, and diffuse white.
  • PQ Limiter: Holds peak luminance under spec to guarantee a clean QC report.
  • PQ False Color: A nit-calibrated overlay showing exactly where luminance levels live in the frame.

Pricing & Availability
