Digital Anarchy has released its second tutorial for Flicker Free that shows users how to fix ghosting after the flicker has been removed.
The new tutorial goes into some of the advanced settings inside Flicker Free that can help eliminate ghosting and rescue difficult footage.
Below are some of the steps you can utilize to help out with reducing ghosting.
In Time Radius, you can lower this setting (e.g., to 4), which reduces the number of analyzed frames, which, in turn, helps minimize ghosting while still addressing flicker.
In the Detect Motion settings, Good/Fast is recommended for clips with significant movement to maintain sharpness. If this causes some flicker to remain, you can toggle it off and enable Motion Compensation as an option.
In Advanced Settings, the Slow setting under Detect Motion provides a better algorithm that also unlocks Mask Threshold and Mask Radius for more precise control.
If a single pass isn’t working, Digital Anarchy recommends that you export the clip after the first pass and apply Flicker Free again. Using this layered approach allows for different settings to be applied, which can remove flicker without introducing blur.
