Lightcraft Technology who make Jetset, has posted up a video explaining how the software was used to replace an expensive volume stage for a Star Wars fan film.
Roman and Nas Dowling, who were behind the Star Wars fan film Star Wars: Entrenched, which was inspired by Andor and a non-canon comic set during the Battle of Hoth, discuss how it was filmed in a residential garage using a small crew of 10 people.
They talk about how they used the Lightcraft Jetset iPhone app for camera tracking and virtual production to compress their post-production timeline from weeks down to hours. The software integrates directly with Blender and Unreal Engine, allowing users to conduct “prevx” (pre-visualized VFX) as a form of digital location scouting.
The standard version of Jetset is FREE, and anyone from major studios working on professional soundstages to solo filmmakers recording in their living room can record live performances against a virtual environment in real time.

Running on an iPhone, Jetset can operate as the primary camera, or connect with mirrorless cinema cameras, including the popular Sony FX3 and Canon R5, or production icons like RED, ARRI, etc.
Once connected, Jetset will capture the camera’s original video, a real-time composite, a LiDAR depth map, and the complete tracking information, so an organized set of data can be used throughout the entire production.
