At Cine Gear 2026, SmallRig announced a new portable SSD designed for video creators who need fast, reliable on-set data management in a compact form factor. The drive combines storage, card reading, backup, and device charging into a single unit that magnetically attaches to a smartphone.
What It Is
The SmallRig Multifunctional Magnetic Portable SSD packs a 1TB SSD rated at up to 10Gbps transfer speed alongside SD and Micro SD (TF) card slots. Both card slots can be read simultaneously, and the unit supports the SD 4.0 standard. No drivers are required.
Beyond storage and card reading, it supports triple backup with hash verification, meaning the drive can create three simultaneous copies of your data and confirm file integrity after the transfer. SmallRig is positioning this as a data security feature for critical shoots.
The device also supports media compression, transcoding, and cloud upload, which SmallRig says is aimed at streamlining team collaboration workflows. A companion six-month Kocard app membership is included, which handles backup management and cloud integration.

A USB-C PD port supports up to 100W input, letting you run the SSD off an external charger while simultaneously powering laptops, smartphones, and tablets via pass-through.
Form Factor

The drive is available in a single configuration: 1TB with the 6-month Kocard app membership included, and will also be available in a 2TB version for $495.
