ZEISS has announced its new Aatma Prime T1.5 Cine Lenses. The new Aatma Prime series consists of nine focal lengths, and they are said to draw inspiration from the classic Planar, Distagon, and Sonnar photo lenses.

The lenses cover large-format sensors, and they feature Zeiss eXtended Data compatibility.

ZEISS states that they balance charcter rich rendering with technical precision. Aatma is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning “innermost essence,” “self,” or “soul”.

All Aatma lenses automatically transfer information about lens scales and depth of field to ARRI Hi-5 and WCU-4 hand units when using ARRI cameras and ARRI LCS. This eliminates the need for camera assistants to manually calibrate their lenses, saving valuable time and effort on set.
